In a Democracy, we make a trade off. We agree to use the VOTE as our measure of public sentiment. We agree to listen to the will of the people. That means that we must accept the decision of the majority. Our Constitution guarantees that the Rights of a minority shall not be infringed, but the will of the voting majority must also be respected. You are not a Patriot if you stand up to Tyranny only when you don’t like the outcome or are in the minority. A true patriot sacrifices some of their liberty to defend the rights of others. It is called Selfless Service. Maybe we need to require military service to hold political office and military or public service to earn the right to vote. “Ask not what your Country can do for you…” What do you think?
